Weimar, 23 December 2021 – IBU-tec advanced materials AG (“IBU-tec”, ISIN DE000A0XYHT5) has once more received a positive rating for its sustainability management a few weeks after earning a silver rating by EcoVadis. With an overall rating of 70 out of 100 possible points, the independent sustainability rating agency imug rating rated the sustainability performance of the IBU-tec Group as “good” overall.

The overall rating consists of the topics “ESG management”, “Products/Services” and “Controversies”, with ESG management having the greatest influence on the overall result with a 50 percent weighting. Within the individual ESG sections, IBU-tec performs best with regards to social aspects. In this area, the numerous activities for employee training, occupational health and safety and social benefits in particular come into play. “Products/Services” accounted for 30 percent of overall evaluation. Here, imug rating particularly recognized the positive contributions to sustainability made by our LFP battery materials, recycling services, services for the medical sector and catalysts for air purification, which together account for around 55 percent of sales. Currently, IBU-tec is not active in any controversies or business activities subject to criticism from a sustainable investor perspective.

IBU-tec attaches great importance to sustainability and is certified according to ISO 9001/14001 for its integrated quality and environmental management system. The product portfolio with its focus on sustainable and resource-conservation solutions gives IBU-tec a strong position in the growing greentech market. In particular, the company’s own LFP battery material LFP400, which IBU-tec started producing in the fourth quarter, and the glass coating for bottles and container glass are expected to drive growth in the coming years. Battery materials is expected to account for up to 30 percent of total sales by 2025.

With an overall rating of 70 points, IBU-tec is in the upper midfield of the scale and only a few points away from an even better rating. A total of five ratings are possible, consisting of “weak”, “moderate”, “good”, “very good” and “excellent”. The positive “good” rating comes just a few weeks after EcoVadis, an international rating agency for evaluating CSR activities in supply chain management, awarded the IBU-tec Group a silver medal and ranked it among the top 20 percent of all companies in its sector.

Ulrich Weitz, CEO of IBU-tec: “We are very pleased that another independent rating has come to such a positive assessment regarding our sustainability management. The good result underlines that we are on the right track with our sustainability strategy. But it is no reason for us to rest on our laurels – on the contrary, we see the rating as an incentive to continue improving our ESG strategy and further refining our sustainability performance. With our own innovative products, especially the LFP battery material, we wish to continue to position ourselves optimally in the greentech market.”
